Mariinsky October 11 Mahler
Oct 5, 2012
Pablo Heras-Casado returns to St. Petersburg on October 11 to conduct Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, “Resurrection,” with the Mariinsky Theatre Chorus and Symphony Orchestra. Mezzo-soprano Olga Borodina and soprano Anastasia Kalagina are the featured soloists. Mahler’s “Resurrection” Symphony features the song “Urlicht” from the composer’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn as well as a setting of Die Auferstehung, an ode by German poet Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock.
Pablo made his debut at the Mariinsky Theatre in November 2011, conducting two short operas in concert: L’heure espagnole by Ravel and La vida breve by de Falla.
