Mariinsky October 11 Mahler
oct 5, 2012
Pablo Heras-Casado returns to St. Petersburg on October 11 to conduct Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, «Resurrection,» with the Mariinsky Theatre Chorus and Symphony Orchestra. Mezzo-soprano Olga Borodina and soprano Anastasia Kalagina are the featured soloists. Mahler’s «Resurrection» Symphony features the song «Urlicht» from the composer’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn as well as a setting of Die Auferstehung, an ode by German poet Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock.
Pablo made his debut at the Mariinsky Theatre in November 2011, conducting two short operas in concert: L’heure espagnole by Ravel and La vida breve by de Falla.
