‘Shostakovich Cello Concertos Nos. 1 + 2’ on Decca Classics

Pablo Heras-Casado leads the Symphonieorchester des Bayerische Rundfunks on Decca Classics’ latest album release of ‘Shostakovich Cello Concertos Nos. 1 + 2’ featuring cellist Alisa Weilerstein. This is Mr. Heras-Casado’s first release on the Decca label, and his second commercial recording with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks (in addition to Mendelssohn Symphony No. 2 on harmonia mundi).

The Shostakovich album is now available for pre-order via Apple Music, Amazon.com, and Amazon.co.uk. The sites, as well as Spotify, also highlight a preview track from the album – the ‘Allegretto’ from Cello Concerto No.1.

Mr. Heras-Casado and Ms. Weilerstein have previously collaborated in performance featuring Shostakovich’s Cello Concerti, celebrated by critics across the globe:
