Mannheimer Morgen, Susanne Kaulich:
Pablo Heras-Casado conducts with speed, at times almost exciting – also through the art of his tense general pauses. The stirring prelude to the second act is rhythmically succinct, the flowing fullness of the melodious sound in the Good Friday magic. What is not apparent in the staging, with or without AR glasses, is compensated for by musical quality.
Nordbayerischer Kurier, Joachim Lange:
Since the premiere of Jay Scheib’s production, now entering its third year on the hill, Pablo Heras-Casado has also been considered a conductor for this piece at this venue. With him, the music flows in a well-dosed and finely balanced manner. At one hour 38 minutes for the first act, he proceeds at a brisk but not rushed pace, the sound fills the house and casts a spell.
FAZ, Patrick Bahners:
The Good Friday magic is an unstable and yet comforting state, thanks to the conductor Pablo Heras-Casado: a world of transitions, the constant mediation of tempo changes and motif repetitions, promises an abundance of rest.
Frankfurter Neue Presse, Bettina Boyens:
The new conductor Thomas Eitler de Lint has prepared the choirs to perfection and works masterfully with Pablo Heras-Casado in the orchestra, who continues to impress with his fast, lively tempi.
