Pablo Heras-Casado is currently immersed in performances of Richard Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen at the Vienna State Opera, becoming the first Spanish conductor to lead the complete cycle at the renowned Austrian house.
Presented between 19 May and 14 June 2026 in Sven-Eric Bechtolf’s production, the performances feature an outstanding cast including Michael Volle (Wotan), Camilla Nylund (Brünnhilde), Michael Spyres (Siegmund) and Andreas Schager (Siegfried).
The Vienna engagement marks another major milestone in Heras-Casado’s growing association with Wagner’s masterpiece, following his work on the Paris Opera’s Ring and ahead of his appointment to conduct the new Bayreuth Festival Ring in 2028.
