Beethoven and Bruckner with the Orquesta de València

On October 31, Pablo Heras-Casado conducts the Orquesta de València in a program of Beethoven and Bruckner at the Palau de les Arts. In early celebration of Beethoven’s 250th birthday in 2020, Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Montero will perform his robust Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major, with improvised cadenzas. Concluding the program, Heras-Casado leads the ensemble in Bruckner’s heroic Third Symphony in D minor, which Bruckner dedicated to his musical idol, Richard Wagner. Heras-Casado conducted Bruckner’s First and Second Symphonies for the first time earlier this year with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, receiving praise from Codalario saying:

“[Heras-Casado] demonstrated his knowledge of the work and his multitude of resources to make each solo shine and direct the listener’s attention from one point to another of the orchestra following the beautiful melodies full of expressiveness.”
