Concert with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester at the Usedomer Musikfestival

On October 5, Pablo Heras-Casado conducts the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester in a program that unites Romantic composers’ love for the sea at the 26th Usedomer Musikfestival in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The program will begin with Mendelssohn’s mystical Hebrides Overture. Described as an early tone poem, Mendelssohn composed the work after traveling to the Scottish island of Staffa where he visited the astonishing Fingal’s Cave.

Following, baritone Matthias Goerne sings Mahler’s lyrical Rückert Lieder, with Brahms’ magnificent First Symphony completing the program. Heras-Casado conducted Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture with the Freiburger Barockorchester part of his award-winning ‘Die Neue Romantik’ series on the harmonia mundi label. Purchase links and more information about the album are available via Pablo’s Recordings.
