Pablo Heras-Casado Awarded ‘Conductor Of The Year’ By Opernwelt Magazine

Pablo Heras-Casado has been awarded ‘Conductor of the Year’ by the prestigious opera magazine Opernwelt. This recognition especially highlights his interpretation of Parsifal at the Bayreuth Festival, described by the publication as ‘rhetorically and poetically impressive’. The award, considered one of the most important in the operatic world, is the result of an annual survey of 43 international critics, the results of which were published in the Annuaire of the iconic German magazine.

Heras-Casado’s conducting of Parsifal has also been praised by the specialist critics, as the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung points out: ‘And the other stroke of luck on the Green Hill is Pablo Heras-Casado: flowing tempi, but never rushed in Parsifal, an orchestral sound that flows organically; a flexibility of tempi oriented towards the meanings of the words and the musical climaxes. (…) You immerse yourself in the listening and completely forget yourself’.

After the success of the previous editions, Heras-Casado will return to the Bayreuther Festspiele in the summer of 2025 to conduct Parsifal again. Moreover, as announced last July, the Granada-born conductor will be in charge of conducting the new production of the four operas of The Ring of the Nibelung in 2028, maintaining a constant presence in the next editions of the Festival.
