Pablo Heras-Casado will conduct the new production of ‘Der Ring des Nibelungen’ in Bayreuth in 2028.

In an interview with Der Spiegel, Katharina Wagner, director of the prestigious Bayreuth Festival, announced that Pablo Heras-Casado (Granada, 1977) will conduct the new production of the four operas of The Ring of the Nibelung in 2028.

Pablo Heras-Casado’s relationship with Richard Wagner began with The Flying Dutchman in 2016 at the Teatro Real, wich he will conduct again at the Staatsoper in Berlin in May 2025, in the production by Philipp Stölzl.

The international impact of Pablo Heras-Casado’s musical direction of the Tetralogy at the Teatro Real between 2019 and 2022, with the last two titles – Siegfried and The Twilight of the Gods – in the adverse and challenging conditions caused by the health restrictions resulting from the pandemic, have consolidated his prestige as a ‘Wagnerian conductor’, revalidated once again in his recent performance of The Master Singers of Nüremberg, in the acclaimed production by Laurent Pelly.
