San Francisco Symphony 2014 15

Pablo Heras-Casado will return to conduct the San Francisco Symphony in the 2014/15 season, the orchestra announced today. Pablo, who earlier this season led a Mendelssohn / Adès Festival with the American orchestra, leads two weeks of concerts with the SFS in April 2015. The first sees the Spanish Maestro leading Schoenberg’s Chamber Symphony No. 1 and the orchestra’s first performances of John Adams’s Chamber Symphony – two works that preface Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D major with guest soloist Joshua Bell (April 9 to 12, 2015). That same week, Pablo conducts two exciting musical events entitled “Revolutions in Music” (April 9 & 10, 2015) as part of the Orchestra’s alternative performance series SoundBox, which debuts next season.

For his second week with the San Francisco Symphony, Pablo continues his exploration of revolutionary moments in music, conducting Stravinsky’s Symphony in Three Movements, Debussy’s Prelude to L’après-midi d’un faune, Haydn’s Symphony No. 44, “Mourning,” and Mozart Piano Concerto No. 9, “Jeunehomme” with Igor Levit. An open rehearsal will take place April 16, 2015 at Davies Symphony Hall, with performances at Sonoma’s Green Music Center on April 16 and at Davies Symphony Hall on April 18 & 19.
