Granada Ambassador

Pablo Heras-Casado has been named an Honorary Ambassador of his native Granada. In bestowing the distinction earlier today at City Hall, Mayor José Torres Hurtado commended the Spanish conductor to “share the city’s name wherever you take your music.” For Pablo, his newly appointed role comes naturally, for, as the Spanish conductor puts it, Granada is his “emotional center,” no matter where he may be performing.

In addition to his engagements with leading orchestras and opera houses worldwide, Pablo’s ambassadorship builds upon his achievements as a cultural figure of his native Spain. The Orchestra of St. Luke’s Principal Conductor was awarded the Medal of Honor from the Rodríguez Acosta Foundation in December 2011, an accolade that was followed in February 2012 by Granada’s Gold Medal, the city’s highest distinction.
