Heras-Casado conducts the SWR Vokalensemble for Good Friday

On April 15 Pablo Heras-Casado will conduct a concert in Köln for Good Friday including four composers from different centuries Tomás Luis de Victoria, Felix Mendelssohn, Gustav Mahler, Richard Wagner, and Claudio Monteverdi, leading the Gürzenich-Orchester and the SWR Vokalensemble.

The first part of the concert will begin with ‘Officium Hebdomadae Sanctae’ (Office for Holy Week) by Spaniard Tomás Luis de Victoria composed in 1585, following the oratorio ‘Christus’, an unfinished piece by Felix Mendelssohn.

Next the remarkable Wagner’s Karfreitagszauber from Parsifal and Gustav Mahler, in his early symphonic movement ‘Totenfeier’, finishing with ‘Crucifixus’ by Monteverdi.

The concert will be a live broadcast from the Kölner Philharmonie on April 15 at 8.03 PM on SWR2.
