Concerts throughout Italy

This month, Pablo Heras-Casado embarks on an Italian journey making his debut with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI and the Orchestra Sinfonica e Coro Sinfonico di Milano, returning to Teatro alla Scala in Milan for this year’s Christmas Concert. For the first time, Pablo Heras-Casado will lead the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI at the Auditorium RAI ‘Arturo Toscanini’ in Turin next December 1 and 2, among the pieces scheduled for both concerts, are Claude Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, a symphonic masterpiece inspired by Stephane Mallarmé’s symbolist poem composed in 1894; Igor Stravinsky’s Concerto in D major for Violin and Orchestra, written in 1931 and first performed that same year in Berlin, with violinist Frank Peter Zimmermann. Heras-Casado closes the evening with Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D major also known as ‘Titan’.
