Heras-Casado conducts Sibelius and Messiaen

Pablo Heras-Casado returns to Germany this summer to conduct a series of concerts leading the SWR Symphonieorchester in Stuttgart on July 14 and 15, Freiburg on July 16, and closing in Mannheim the following day.

The program includes works by Olivier Messiaen, one of the major composers of the 20th century, and Finland’s greatest composer Jean Sibelius

It will begin with Messiaen’s Trois petites liturgies de la présence divine was written during World War II and successfully premiered on April 21, 1945. Followed by the Second Symphony by Sibelius, a work that inspired the nationalist struggle for independence against Tsarist Russia, premiered in Helsinki in 1902.

The concert on July 15 will be broadcast live from the Stuttgart Liederhalle on July 15 at 8 PM on SWRClassic.de
