Two World Contemporary Premieres in Munich

On Friday, November 12, Pablo Heras-Casado will conduct the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks) for an extraordinary concert featuring two world premieres by composers Jüri Reinvere and Arnulf Herrmann.

Both world premieres, commissioned by MusicaViva concert series – one of the world’s most important forums for contemporary music, will take place in the Herkulessaal of the Munich Residenz. The program begins with Vom Die Stern der Sterne the new orchestral piece created by Jüri Reinvere (1971), one of the most renowned composers of his native Estonia, alongside Arvo Pärt and Erkki-Sven Tüür. He is also an accomplished pianist, poet, journalist, and essayist, his music focuses on theological themes as well as politics and history.

Reinvere belongs to the same generation of composers as the German Arnulf Herrmann (1968), whose work ranges from opera to electronic music. The second part of the program is complemented by the composition Tour de Trance for orchestra and soprano, with Anja Petersen as soloist and text by Monika Rinck, about limbo and trance between dream and reality.

These two new works now follow the premieres conducted in 2021 by the Maestro such as Aventures (first time in Italy), by Finnish composer Magnus Lindberg (1958) during the MITO SettembreMusica Festival, and REMS by Swedish Jacob Mühlrad (1991) at the Konserthuset Stockholm, last September.

BR-KLASSIK will broadcast the concert recording on the radio on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, starting at 8.05 pm.
