Opening of the Bolzano Festival Bozen 2021

On July 28, Pablo Heras-Casado will open the Bolzano Festival Bozen 2021 conducting the Gustav Mahler Academy Orchestra. The live musical will perform Beethoven’s Leonora Overture No. 3 and two works by Czech composer Dvořák: In the Kingdom of Nature and Symphony No. 9, also known as the New World Symphony, the opening of the festival will take place at the Auditorium of Bolzano. The overture that opens the program was composed for the Bonn genius’ only opera, Fidelio. The intensity of the music contrasts with the colorful richness of the next work on the program, In Nature’s Realm. It ends with Dvořák’s New World Symphony inspired by folk music and composed in 1893. Heras-Casado will return on August 9 to the Italian city of Bolzano with the European Union Youth Orchestra to conduct Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto, with soloist Alban Gerhardt, and Brahms’ Symphony No. 3. The opening concert will be live broadcast on Rai Radio 3 and next August 22 on Rai Südtirol at 8PM
