“Artist of the Year” ICMA Awards 2021

Pablo Heras-Casado has been awarded Artist of the Year 2021 by the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA). 

The ICMA jury, formed by 20 music media from 16 countries and representatives of various European music organizations, announced today the winners of the 11th edition of the ICMA Awards.

The awards recognize expressed “in an already dazzling career, the Granada-born conductor Pablo Heras-Casado has shown great versatility in an unusually broad repertoire ranging from Renaissance music to contemporary creations. His collaborations with the world’s most important orchestras and ensembles, as well as his numerous recordings, place the young Spanish maestro among the most solid values on the international scene”. 

Other awards went to German soprano Edita Gruberova with the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Berliner Philharmoniker Recordings is the Label of the Year. 

The award ceremony and the concert will be presented on April 16th in Vaduz, Liechtenstein.

The International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) are the most important music awards in the performing arts sector, best known as the “Grammys” of classical music. Founded in April 2011 and replace the Cannes Classical Awards and the Midem Classical Music Awards.
