Concerts with the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo and Osaka

For his final engagement of this year, Pablo Heras-Casado leads the NHK Symphony Orchestra, presenting four concerts in Tokyo and Osaka. On December 11 & 12, they will perform at Suntory Hall, followed by a performance on December 14 at Tokyo Metropolitan Hall, and will conclude on December 15 at NHK Hall in Osaka.

Heras-Casado will lead a program including Rimsky-Korsakov’s dazzling Capriccio Espagnol, with its exotic emphasis on solo instrumental virtuosity as well as on the brilliant orchestral robustness that is so typical of Rimsky-Korsakov. Pianist Daniel Kharitonov joins Heras-Casado to perform Liszt’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 1. They will reunite in March 2020 to perform this concerto again together with the Philharmonia Orchestra, with performances of the work at Southbank Centre and across the United Kingdom. Concluding the program is Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1 “Winter Dreams,” which Heras-Casado recorded with Orchestra of St. Luke’s on harmonia mundi.
