Debut at the Verbier Festival with Martin Fröst

Pablo Heras-Casado will make his debut with the Verbier Festival Orchestra this August at the Verbier Festival in Switzerland. In celebration of the festival’s 25th anniversary, Heras-Casado will lead the ensemble and Swiss clarinetist Martin Fröst in a program of Rossini, Debussy, Nordin, and Schumann on August 3 at the Salle des Combins. Martin Fröst will perform Debussy’s Première Rhapsodie for clarinet and orchestra and Nordin’s Emerge for clarinet and orchestra, which Nordin composed for Fröst in 2017. Nordin’s invention of the Gestrument, a device that translates a musician’s gestures and converts them into sound from a virtual orchestra, will be featured in the piece. The program is bookended by Rossini’s Overture to The Barber of Seville and Schumann’s Symphony No. 2.
