Romantic and riveting works with the New World Symphony

This month, Pablo Heras-Casado returns to Miami to lead and work with the young musicians of the New World Symphony in two concert performances, hosted at the New World Center. On February 23, Mr. Heras-Casado and the NWS present a passionate programme, highlighting Ligeti’s Romanian Concerto, Liszt’s Les préludes, and Brahms’ Symphony No. 3. This concert is also named the week’s Critic’s Choice by South Florida Classical Review. Acclaimed violinist Gil Shaham joins on February 24 at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, when the Ligeti will be replaced by Bartók’s Violin Concerto No. 2.

Mr. Heras-Casado previously worked with the NWS in 2012, 2014 & 2016; video reflections on various topics from his past collaborations with the ensemble can be found via their Musaic platform at the following link.

2016 review of Bartók’s Dance Suite with Pablo and the NWS:

“Heras-Casado led a supple performance, speeding up and slowing down the orchestra’s with a dance-band leader’s sense of rhythm. This folk-inspired music, passed through the prism of Bartók’s classical training, came off as neither too pristine nor too raucous. The orchestra, with particularly muscular playing in strings and brass, gave a polished performance that maintained an earthy, rhythmic spirit.” (South Florida Classical Review)
