French Masterworks with the Dallas Symphony

From October 19-22, Pablo Heras-Casado conducts a sparkling programme of French selections with the Dallas Symphony, along with guest soloist and frequent collaborator Jean-Yves Thibaudet. Of a previous concert with Mr. Heras-Casado, Mr. Thibaudet, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Mark Swed of the LA Times proclaimed: “Heras-Casado surrounded Thibaudet’s familiarly crystalline style in an orchestral setting of clean modernity.”

Each concert will open with Debussy’s evocative tone poem La Mer, followed by Ravel’s intense and intriguing Piano Concerto for the Left Hand, with Mr. Thibaudet as soloist. Debussy’s Gigues & Rondes de Printemps (from Images) and Ravel’s shimmering Daphnis et Chloé, Suite No. 2 close out the richly varied programme, part of the Symphony’s Texas Instruments Classical Series.
