Monteverdi tour with the Balthasar-Neumann-Chor & Ensemble

On a three-day tour in Spain next month, Pablo Heras-Casado and the Balthasar-Neumann-Chor & Ensemble bring the music of Monteverdi to two of the country’s great cities. They begin the tour in Madrid on October 6 at the Auditorio Nacional de Música, with a sold-out concert in the Sala de Cámara. The evening features Monteverdi’s Selva morale e spirituale, Vol. II, highlighted as part of the “Universo Barroco” (Baroque Universe) celebration. Last season, Mr. Heras-Casado and the musicians offered the first part of the work, so this concert takes place as a continuation of that trajectory.

They then travel to Ovideo for a performance at the Auditorio Príncipe Felipe on October 7, featuring a selection from Selva morale e spirituale (SV 252–288). The tour will be completed on October 8 with a return to Madrid, this time to the Auditorio Nacional’s Sala Sinfónica, with Vol. III of the work.

Mr. Heras-Casado and the Balthasar-Neumann-Chor & Ensemble have previously collaborated both in performance and on recording; their critically-lauded album titled “Praetorius” is available for purchase from the Archiv Produktion label.
