International concert tour with Emmanuel Ax

Pablo Heras-Casado and pianist Emmanuel Ax join the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia for three concerts at the Sala Santa Cecila on February 6, 8 & 9. These appearances, the first of Pablo and Emmanuel’s joint international tour, highlight Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2, along with his Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus, Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1 (“Classical”) and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9. Enjoy a video preview of the concerts from Michele dall’Ongaro, the President and Intendant of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.

The following week, Mr. Heras-Casado makes his debut with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in several concerts throughout Israel. The programme features Roberto Gerhard’s Dances from Don Quixote, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1 (“Winter Daydreams”), and Franck’s Symphonic Variations and Mozart’s Concerto for Piano in E flat major, both featuring Mr. Ax as soloist.

Performances with the IPO take place in several venues, including Jerusalem’s International Convention Center on February 18, Haifa’s Auditorium on February 21 & 25, and in Tel Aviv at the Charles Bronfman Auditorium on February 22 (Gala), 26, 27 & 28.

The duo then brings their third concert series to the stage across the Atlantic, in collaboration with the New World Symphony in Miami. Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 (“Emperor”) will be performed on March 4 at the New World Center, alongside Bartók’s Dance Suite. They then present the same programme, in addition to Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 on March 5 at Knight Concert Hall in the Adrienne Arsht Center.
